In 1954, the industry association for colours, lacquers and varnish
co-financed the 12-minute clearing-up-film “The House in the
Middle”: Three houses with identical timber-structures in a
typical American house architecture—one bedraggled, one
cultivated except a damaged exterior painting and the third one
faultless—were exposed to an energy of an atom-bomb in the desert
of Nevada…
