ВЫСТАВКА, ВЫСТАВКА! КРАСИВЫЕ КАРТИНЫ! ВСЕМ НА ВЫСТАВКУ! - Exhibition! Exhibition! Beautiful paintings! Come to the exhibition!

... call out Zaira Shakhbanova and Elmira Gasanova, two barkers from Dagestan in the Caucasus, who usually sell fresh fish at the market. The artist Taus Makhacheva, whose video work Tightrope can currently be seen at the Kunstverein, invited the two women for a performance and had them advertise an exhibition in their typical singsong, rather than their usual call of “fresh fish!”. The audio recording of the performance can be heard daily from April 23 to 26, 2021 at 4 p.m. in the Ost-Kiosk of the goEast film festival in front of the Kunstverein. The women thus lure passers-by on Wilhelmstrasse to an exhibition that is currently in lockdown, and refer to the cultural void created by the closure of the Kunstverein.

As part of the international goEast - Festival of Central and Eastern European Film, the Ost-Kiosk will be a meeting place and contact point for festival visitors under pandemic conditions. Objects of daily festival needs such as coffee, snacks and information material are offered on site and the kiosk radio plays a kaleidoscope of Central and Eastern European impressions as a sound installation. Curator Anastasia Melai found the K67 kiosk in the Serbian town of Kikinda for the festival and had it transported via Bratislava, Prague and Nuremberg to Wiesbaden, where it can be seen from April 23 to 26, 2021 on Wilhelmstrasse in front of the Nassauischer Kunstverein.
