Double portrait Alvin Lucier and Elaine Radigue
curated by Ilan Volkov

Musicans of the hr-Sinfonieorchester and Ensemble Modern  as well as friends of Ilan Volkov

The conductor Ilan Volkov, who handles musical tradition as easily as most recent music, loves experiments. Since open work concepts, more accurately described as experimental settings, or extremely daring, yet remarkably emphatic works for small formations are usually given short shrift in the setting or larger orchestral festivals or simply fall by the wayside, Volkov has taken to curating his own programmes within longer programmes, wherever he can and there is a demand. He calls these projects, which are remarkable for their inner coherence, »Tectonics«. For cresc... 2017 he has created one of them, harbouring several surprises.
